Role Overview
As the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving ELKO’s expansion into the Bulgarian market. This is a high-impact role focused on identifying new business avenues, securing strategic partnerships, and scaling our presence from an initial €3-4 million portfolio to €15 million within three years. You will act as the primary link between our Romanian headquarters and the Bulgarian retail ecosystem.
- New Business Acquisition: Actively identify and target potential clients and partners across Bulgaria to build a robust sales pipeline.
- Relationship Management: Proactively maintain and grow relationships with existing clients through regular meetings to identify their needs and provide timely feedback.
- Market & Competitive Intelligence: Collect and analyze information on Bulgarian market trends, key products, and competitor movements—specifically signaling issues regarding product placement, range, or pricing.
- Sales & Inventory Oversight: Monitor sales performance against available stock levels at partner locations and provide critical feedback to both partners and internal teams.
- Strategic Negotiations: Lead high-level commercial negotiations and finalize contracts with key strategic partners.
- Marketing Activation: Propose and participate in the implementation of in-store marketing campaigns; supervise their execution and provide feedback on their overall effect.
- Digital Strategy Support: Help define and monitor online marketing campaigns, providing recommendations to modify, continue, or stop initiatives based on real-time results.
- Cross-Functional Synergy: Work closely with Romanian-based marketing, logistics, and finance teams to ensure seamless execution of Bulgarian market strategies.

- Experience: 3–4 years of proven success in business development or sales management within the consumer electronics or retail sector.
- Communication: Exceptional negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret market data, identify trends, and formulate actionable sales strategies.
- Languages: Native-level Bulgarian is essential; professional proficiency in English is required for coordination with the Romanian office.
- Mobility: Flexibility to travel across Bulgaria and frequently visit the HQ in Romania.
- Mindset: An independent, “hunter” mentality with high initiative and ownership of results.
