AXIS Q1686-DLE uses radar to reliably monitor vehicle speeds up to 200 km/h (125 mph), 24/7. It can monitor vehicles in multiple lanes and accurately detect both speed and direction. And thanks to multiple line-crossing scenario, the same vehicle must cross two virtual lines to trigger an alarm, making the notifications more accurate. With a low false alarm rate, police can act upon reliable alarms and, for instance, quickly stop vehicles driving the wrong way. Based on an open platform, AXIS Q1686-DLE is compatible with traffic monitoring systems and platforms. It can be used to trigger other devices, for instance, a strobe light to warn and deter wrong-way drivers. What’s more, generated metadata can be gathered and visualized in a dashboard for valuable insights.
Identify vehicles going the wrong way
Not only does AXIS Q1686-DLE accurately detect vehicle speed and direction it can also reliably identify an offending vehicle. Featuring a varifocal tele lens with 46°–9° horizontal FOV, this smart fusion device captures images of vehicles traveling in up to two lanes. It delivers sharp, high-resolution images with the pixel density needed for license plate recognition. A built-in license plate capture assistant ensures easy setup for best video performance. And, thanks to a traffic-optimized IR illumination kit, it can capture license plate images in complete darkness up to 50 m (164 ft). Built on an open platform, you can use AXIS Q1686-DLE with license plate recognition software to connect the speed and direction to a specific license plate. This enables reliable identification of a vehicle, on the edge– in the camera itself.

Simply enter the installation height, distance to the vehicle, and the expected speed. Furthermore, smart radar coexistence allows you to install up to eight AXIS Q1686-DLE devices close to each other, ideal for instance at busy traffic intersections or toll plazas.
